How the Blast Mini protects you from air pollution

Air pollution is a serious environmental and health issue. And it’s hard to escape – even our homes are filled with these dangerous microscopic particles. The Blast Mini's 3-stage filtration effectively traps dust, mould, pollen, and PM2.5 – the main cause of air pollution.

PM2.5 VOCs Smoke Viruses
Allergens Dust Pollen Mould

The Blast Mini gives out as much clean air as 2.2 Blueair 203s in a minute

That's a whole load of clean air!

It's quieter too

If it's more powerful than 2 Blueairs, it must be loud as heck, right?

It's actually quieter. Think of it as the strong, silent type. A huge fan and an oversized HEPA means that more clean air can be pumped out at lower noise levels. You’ll hardly notice while it’s running

Backed up by Open Data tests

Alright, this photo is staged! But aeronautical engineer Paddy really did run over 200 tests on noise, particle capture, wind speed, and power usage. Because of this, the Blast can be a powerful yet quiet air purifier. And you don’t have to believe us. All this is backed up by thousands of hours of open data in our Clean Air Blog.

What's inside a Blast Mini?

Purifier companies can make obscene profits when most people don't understand how purifiers work. Here's the honest truth: a purifier is a fan and a filter. In this case, that fan and filter are just really big!

* Tests on the highest setting show that adding a carbon filter reduces airflow by 11%. This means that this purifier with both HEPA and Carbon filters will have an the airflow of1246m³/h and a CADR to 659m³/h

Frequently Asked Questions

Do the units need to be fixed to the walls?
The Blast and Blast Mini come with placement brackets which help you to understand what the minimum distance it should be from the wall for full, uninterrupted airflow. The full-size Blast filters should be fixed to the wall, but this is optional for the Blast Mini units.
The units have started to become noisier, why?
If your unit has suddenly become noisier, it is likely to be dirty pre-filters. When this is clogged, the fan has to work harder so sounds much louder. If you’re waiting for your unit to be cleaned, keep it on the lowest setting (speed 1) rather than turning it off. This keeps the air circulating and prevents stale air from building up.
Will the air purifier work with doors and windows open?
While air filters are most effective at reducing levels of particulate matter in classrooms when windows are closed, opening windows and ventilating the classroom is vital for removing other pollutants including VOCs (including from cleaning chemicals) and CO2 which can affect cognitive performance. Opening windows for even a short period of time can have significant benefits for indoor air quality.
Are Smart Air purifiers better than other air purifiers?
Smart Air purifiers use the same cleaning principle as most other air purifiers. The technology behind air purifiers is not complex, and readily available. However, Smart Air is the only air purifier company committed to transparent communication through open-data. We avoid overcomplicating our air purifiers with high markups and marketing gimmicks. Smart Air purifiers are honest, data-backed, and streamlined to do one thing: clean air.
How to know when it is time to replace the Sqair’s HEPA filter?
We recommend replacing the HEPA filter every 12-18 months. But the truth is the exact time depends on many factors such as the amount of hours used and local pollution levels. The most accurate way to determine when to replace a HEPA filter is to use an air quality monitor.
